Recharging electric vehicles<\/h2><\/div>

What is important to know to understand the world of electric mobility? How does it work and what is the recharging process?<\/h4><\/div>

As in traditional combustion cars, electric vehicles<\/strong> need energy to move autonomously. Traditional vehicles have a fuel tank and electric cars have an energy tank called a battery<\/strong>. This battery<\/strong> is refilled, to call it somehow, with electrical energy. When it empties we need to refill it with energy to have autonomy again.<\/p>\n

This process is done at a charging point<\/strong>. Depending on the type of electric vehicle<\/strong>, its battery<\/strong> and the speed<\/strong> at which it is able to charge the battery, there are several recharging systems.<\/p>\n

REHEV: Range Extended Hybrid Electric Vehicle<\/h3><\/div>

Electric Vehicle with an Extended Autonomy thanks to having an electric motor and another small internal combustion engine that is activated to produce energy and recharge batteries.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

PHEV: Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle<\/h3><\/div>

The Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle has 2 motors, one electric and one combustion. Vehicle management allows the use of one, the other and even both if required by driving.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

HEV: Hybrid Electric Vehicle<\/h3><\/div>

The Hybrid Electric Vehicle works just like the PHEV with the particularity that the batteries are not plug-in.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

They are the first to have been used but have a low ratio of energy per unit of weight and volume.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

They have memory effect so they limit the type of recharge.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Zebra<\/h3><\/div>

They have a high energy density, they have no memory effect but they have the problem that they work at very high temperatures (270-350\u00baC) and are easily discharge.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

They are the most used because they have a high specific energy, they have no memory effect, tolerate a high number of charge cycles and have a low self-discharge.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Types\u00a0of\u00a0recharge<\/h3><\/div>

The Recharging Type<\/strong> is a non-scientifically parameterized<\/strong> designation that electric vehicle users have been using based on the recharging time. We’ve all heard of slow, normal, semi-fast, fast, ultra-fast, etc…<\/p>\n

It is really the Recharge Mode<\/strong> that can scientifically determine to some extent the speed, that is, together with the characteristics of the charger and the particularities of each vehicle.<\/p>\n

In short: Not all vehicles can charge in all modes and therefore at any speed.<\/h6>\n<\/div>

Recharging modes<\/h3><\/div>

The batteries of an electric vehicle have four operating modes of charging. Charging modes are concerned with the level of communication between the vehicle and the charging infrastructure and the control of the charging process. The greater or lesser control of the loading process can allow you to see the status, stop, resume, schedule the process and even program it. Depending on the infrastructure of the network, it can also allow electricity to be dumped into the network. Depending on the mode, the infrastructure works with alternating current or direct current.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Types of Connectors<\/h3><\/div>

The connectors<\/strong> are the terminations that have the cables or power hoses that connect the charging point and the battery of the electric vehicle. Based on the mode, security and communication there are several types of connectors.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Charger Models<\/h3><\/div>

Chargers are the devices that are placed in the charging infrastructures to supply and manage the process. There are several manufacturers of chargers and they have different models available designed for all charging modes.<\/p>\n<\/div>
